Owning a Crossfit Box was definitely not on the radar for me 15 years ago when I began my career as a chef. I was a wrestler throughout high school and that about summed up my physical activity. Crossfit started for me back in 2013 when I made the decision to change my bad habits. Chefs live notoriously rough lives of eating and drinking unhealthy, working long hours and having minimal sleep. At the height of my culinary career I was executive chef of a fine dining Italian restaurant. Something was lacking. I was just not happy anymore. The way I felt mentally and physically was depressing. I found crossfit. And I made crossfit work for me. I would wake up at 5 a.m, head to the local box and hit a workout and then proceed to go and cook for 15 hours. I loved it so much that I began coaching crossfit as well. I did this routine until I literally burnt out from exhaustion. I realized my health and mental well being was more important than some job. I gathered up whatever resources I had left and quit my job, starting my own Paleo prepared meals company. Since then every day has been what I like to call a rewarding struggle. I ended up coaching at a box that eventually became mine and I haven't looked back since. I think I bring a unique perspective to the Crossfit World. A chef mentality requires focus, drive, passion, commitment and the ability to lead a team. That's what Andare has become. A team that I am so proud to be a part of.

In West Philadelphia born and raised, on a playground is where I spent most of my days....
      As you can tell from the way this started I am the fun loving, make you laugh while you're dying coach. 

      Everyone has to start somewhere.  So here's my story. I have always had an active background in fitness.  It started as a kid with gymnastics and competitive cheerleading for many years.  But my fitness career really took off in 2010 when it became my lifestyle.  I had just had my 2nd child and was not happy with the way I looked or how I felt.  And that's when I decided to make fitness a real priority

      It started with taking group fitness classes, then I started getting certified to teach those classes. And soon after I knew it. My goal in life was to help as many people as I could with fitness, health and nutrition. 

      CrossFit found me in the summer of 2015!!  I was 3 months post delivery of my 3rd child. And needless to say I was not where I should of been health, nutrition or fitness wise. I would cry at my own reflection. I was disappointed with whom I had become. Then I saw it...the ad on social media to join a 28 day body transformation challenge. I took up the offer.

      I walked into that CrossFit class that first day, I saw women smaller than me lifting crazy amounts of weight and moving so fast through their movements.  Although, I was totally overwhelmed,  I wanted to be them.  And that is what I set out to do!! It is now a little over a year and I am blessed everyday for CrossFit.

     It has not only made me confident, strong, fast and lean. It has given me the power to accomplish anything I set out to do.  It also has made my family life so much better.  My husband loves the sport, my kids can't wait to start and my littlest is bound to be the "Fittest on Earth" one day!

     My goal is still simple...try to help everyone possible to realize their health and fitness potential!! Let them know we all start somewhere. And sure it's overwhelming at first but if you work hard, maintain will power and never give up on yourself, you will accomplish anything you want!!

You might expect this to start off describing a long background in fitness, but it's actually the complete opposite. In fact, if you asked me a few years ago if I would be involved in the fitness industry, we probably would have shared a good laugh. 

Around 5 years ago, in what felt like the millionth attempt to lose weight and get into shape, I stumbled into a CrossFit box not even really knowing exactly what CrossFit was. The environment was intimidating. The feeling after my first WOD was a mixture of death and defeat. I swore I would never be back. For whatever reason, I showed up again..... and never left. 

I always considered myself somewhat athletic. I randomly played sports in school, but I never fully committed or found a passion for anything. I took to CrossFit right away. I loved the environment and the excitement of doing new things everyday that all ended in the same result - sprawled out in a pool of sweat on the mat! It was never boring. I loved seeing my body improve every day- getting faster and stronger with each WOD. It fueled me to want to get better. With a huge change in nutrition and commitment to the program, I had a great transformation. It became a lifestyle. 

After a few years I could see my interest was headed far beyond just a class I took to get in shape. I started becoming extremely interested in getting educated about CrossFit. I had a desire to help others reach their goals. In October 2016 I got my CF-L1. As both an athlete and Coach, CrossFit has impacted my life in more positive ways than I could list. It has made me stronger and more confident, both mentally and physically. I am now lucky enough to share that passion with others. 

I recognize that everyone's journey is different but whatever your goals are, no matter how big or small, I want to help you get there. My favorite thing in the world is helping someone do something they couldn't do before and sharing that accomplishment with them. As a Coach, my main goal is to inspire others to be the best version of themselves. I'm extremely grateful to be on this wild ride with the amazingly supportive community at CrossFit Andare. I love the family we are building.

Community is everything and one of the reasons I love CrossFit. I have been doing CrossFit since 2007 and started coaching in 2011. I haven't looked back since starting this journey.

I am an avid runner and have competed in multiple marathons including the Philadelphia Half Marathon, Nashville Rock N Roll Marathon, & The Boston Marathon. 

I bring my love for CrossFit and Running together through Endurance classes that will take your fitness to a whole new level. My favorite WOD is absolutely Murph- it brings my love of both running and CrossFit together for one Killer Endurance workout. 

It's all about working hard and having fun!

All of my adult life I’ve been an exercise and nutrition enthusiast. Wherever I was living, I always had a gym membership and maintained a healthy lifestyle. Before CrossFit, I always tried to vary my training between things like weight training, spinning, rebounding, gym classes and for a few years incorporated running and entering many 5K runs.

When I found CrossFit in January of 2009, it was not a well known sport as it is today. There were no ‘CrossFit boxes’ in Northern Ocean County.

My husband found this crazy workout on the internet called ‘The Bear Complex’. At my next gym session, I did the workout, my love affair with CrossFit was born, and there was no looking back. I loved that the workouts were never the same day to day, and they caused me to work on things that I never would have working on my own. My family and I started following the CrossFit website for our daily workouts. These workouts were amazing and addicting! We grew more and more passionate about this new way of working out, decided to go for Level 1 certifications, and the first CrossFit box in Northern Ocean County was born in our home garage in 2009.

CrossFit became a way of life for me and has allowed me to be in the best physical condition I’ve ever been in. Nothing compares to the gratification and happiness that being a CrossFit trainer brings. It’s awesome to be able to train and share with others the benefits that this sport has brought to my life. As a trainer my goal is to help my athletes believe in themselves, realize that they are capable of doing things maybe they thought weren’t possible, and leave feeling accomplished and wanting to come back for more.

The community we have at CrossFit Andare is one of support, camaraderie, fun, and hard work. The common passion we all share for CrossFit binds this great group of people together and there are no age or fitness level barriers.

Oh yeah…The Bear Complex, still my favorite workout to this day!
